Joshua Swamidass of Washington University in Saint Louis is a fully convinced Christian and a leading computational biologist. He is the Faculty Lead for Translational Bioinformatics at the Institute for Informatics, developing machine learning for medical application at the molecular and cellular level. He is both a scientist in the Church and a Christian in science, engaging both worlds with questions of faith and science.

What does it mean to be a confessing Christian in a scientific context?
What does it mean to be a scientist in the context of the Church?

As a model of integration, Dr Swamidass suggests a dual calling embracing both identities, taking both communities and bodies of knowledge seriously. This discussion will consider how that works in the context of US discussions, and how it might work in Hong Kong.
